Brilliant! You are so talented! I bought one of these years ago and it was great but too small. Your solution looks perfect.

This is an awesome idea! And it seems simple enough that those of us with no sewing machine can complete this project. Your idea for a tablecloth/clean-up bag for the tea set is a great idea as well (provided the tea set isn’t china – :) ). I can’t wait to see the results of your other nesting projects. Well done, E.

What a beautiful photo story! Not to mention a downright brilliant idea! I love the fabric you used and it looks like Michael and Nikki enjoy it too. =)

The MIL’s first comment was, “They could strangle themselves on the cords.” A version with the cords sown into the edge would allay that fear one hopes.

Hi MJ,
I agree that the cords on the drawstring playmat could be a concern. We used a thickish cord that’s rather stiff – of course anything could happen, but I felt that the likelihood is pretty low with my children since the cord is difficult to manipulate.
Even if the cords were sewn into the edge, you could still have a problem when the drawstrings were pulled and the long loops were exposed.
If you are at all concerned that the child(ren) you made the mat for would have a tendency to put the cords around their necks, then it would be best to leave the cord off until they are old enough to know better!
