at least he gave it a try

Posted by: blissfule In: Perth ()

This afternoon Nikki asked for macaroni and cheese, but there was no blue box in the house. I grabbed the opportunity to try Auntie Leila's Easy Mac and Cheese recipe.

While cooking, I remembered the advice not to let my helpers taste any of the grated cheese prior to mixing it into our shells. Tasting the plain grated cheese makes the final cheese mixture seem less cheesy, and we didn't want that!

After stirring all the ingredients together, I served Nikki, Michael, and myself each a bowl of cheesy noodles.

Nikki and I enjoyed the pasta. The light-coloured sauce reminded me both in colour and flavour of Kraft White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese. However, after his fifth bowl, Michael said he didn't like it.

What do you think? Should I try a different recipe next time?

If he ate 5 bowls, I bet he liked it well enough! Maybe you could try a different recipe in the future, but it sounded like this one worked, so I’d keep it in your back pocket as well. You never know when you’ll need it! Looks yummy. :)

I think that boy is confused between not liking and being full! Of course he doesn’t want anymore when he’s filled to the brim! It seems to me he really likes it!

How nice that you can eat outside and enjoy it so often! It’s snow, snow, snow for us!

Very funny! He’s welcome to visit his Auntie Erin and make me feel that “bad” about my cooking anytime!

Priceless!! Well done you, for making it from scratch – so easy and economical. Bet you’ll do it again and again now.

Sadly, none of my children ever ‘disliked’ macaroni cheese as much as Michael (lol) – it was one of the first things that I learned to cook in Food and Nutrition lessons at school but is rarely cooked anymore.

lol! I don’t know, if one of my kids didn’t like something as much as Michael didn’t like it, I’d feel pretty awesome. JP and I both think he looks priceless.

Judging from that face, you’re lucky he tried it at all! What a hoot. Never too early to learn that too much of a good thing rule…
