Saturday was a grand day out for the Egyptian Petersons. The Smiths (who have Nadia's help in the mornings) invited us for a
felucca ride on the
Nile . Troy Smith is one of Ben's former bosses whom I had never met, and a
very nice man. I also discovered that Ross and Emily went to
Memorial Parkway Junior High , in
Katy, Texas , just like I did!
Some pictures we took of Nile activity: two other feluccas and a fishing boat.
On shore, the wind was still, but very soon after we pulled away from the dock, a breeze sprang up and we had a very enjoyable three hour tour. Nikki had been in trains, a plane, and some automobiles, but this was her first boat trip.
After our felucca trip, we went furniture shopping. Barbara mentioned during our cruise that she had bought her couch at Verinno. I have looked at a lot of furniture advertisements here, and Verinno seemed by far the best. So Ben and I stopped there first. We were given a grand tour by a Russian saleslady who demonstrated that pretty much every piece of furniture did something cool, like a sofa transforming into a chaise lounge, reclining headboard on the bed, swiveling coffee tables, and dining tables that can be extended and shortened one-handed!
Ben also wanted to check out one of the less expensive shops, so we went to Sofa World. I think the sofa cushions were stuffed with paper...
Next was the White House, which had some extremely cool chairs. The other furniture was not as exciting. It sort of fell in the middle between Verinno and Sofa World. But I don't know how we're going to pass up some of those chairs! Extra comfy
and chic.
By then we'd earned a treat, so off to
Fuddruckers we went to eat! We had yummy burgers and a cookie apiece for dessert. On the way home, I was spectacularly exhausted and expressed my surprise to Ben. He reminded me how much we'd done on a single day, and suddenly my exhaustion made perfect sense! It was a good sort of tiredness, at the end of a particularly good day.
